17 weeks and my garage sale find

This is the Dutailier glider I got at a garage sale last week for $40...I'm not in love with the wood color or the fabric, so I'm thinking of painting it and making cushion covers. Yes, you heard me right. I'm channeling my home ec days of high school and breaking out the good 'ole sewing machine to try my knack at this. I made 20 table runners for our wedding reception, and I've made curtains before, too. I'm also thinking of being really brave and making my own baby bedding! We'll see how that pans out, though.

My in-laws have just painted their nursery and are ready for us to move our guest room furniture into their house! So we'll probably start that today or tomorrow...meaning I'll also have to clean out the closet that has served as our storage facility for 3 years. I have no idea what I'll do with it all since this house was obviously built for people who have nothing. No storage whatsoever. Ah well....lets hope the nesting urge kicks in pretty quickly! When we find out the sex of the baby, then we'll paint the room and then replace the carpet. Fun times ahead!

How far along? 17 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: 2 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight
How much does Baby weigh?: 5 ounces
Maternity clothes? Work pants, yes (but they're still a bit big). I need a little breathing room! Otherwise, no.
Stretch marks? No new ones....just some old, faded ones from years past.
Sleep: Continues to suck. Thinking now that the body pillow just isn't enough anymore.
Best moment this week: Having french fries for lunch and dinner and not feeling guilty about it!
Movement: don't think so.
Food cravings: Fries, watermelon
Gender: No clue. My gut says girl!
Labor Signs: Hope not!
Belly Button in or out? Innie
What I miss: restful slelep
What I am looking forward to: feeling the baby move, and the BIG U/S on July 14th!
Milestones: My appetite is officially back 100%; and i just found out my good friend Megan is pregnant as well...only 8 weeks behind me!

16 weeks!

How far along? 16 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: 3 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight
How much does Baby weigh?: 3.5 ounces
Maternity clothes? Work pants, yes (but they're still a bit big). I need a little breathing room! Otherwise, no.
Stretch marks? No new ones....just some old, faded ones from years past.
Sleep: It sucks. 4 hours of good rest at best, even with a body pillow. ugh. This week, I have been guilty of taking one Tylenol PM before bedtime, and that helps me get to sleep faster! (of course, I asked the Dr. and she said that's fine)
Best moment this week: finding a Dutailier glider for $40 at a garage sale!
Movement: don't think so.
Food cravings: Fries
Gender: No clue. My gut says girl!
Labor Signs: Hope not!
Belly Button in or out? Innie
What I miss: restful slelep
What I am looking forward to: feeling the baby move, and the BIG U/S on July 14th!
Milestones: I feel my belly starting to pop!

My most recent craving

I'll have to settle for a virgin version tonight at the mexican restaurant. Too bad it doesn't come with the buzz and libido that I would love to have right now!

The date is set!

I had my 3rd OB appt today at 15w 4d...heartbeat at 160 bpm! My OB said, "Sounds like a girl!", and all I could think was, "yeah, right. That's just an OWT (old wives tale)." Then she said, "Oh, that's just an old wives' tale. We'll leave it up to technology to confirm." My confidence in Dr. Carter quickly returned. :)

Two great things happened, though:
1. Successful one-time blood draw! Remember that u-g-l-y bruise I posted a few weeks ago from the blood draw? Well, that is finally almost gone. So today, I needed to get more blood drawn for spina bifida testing, and she went for the exact same spot! I had to remind her that she wasn't so successful there the first time....(no pressure, right?)...she went on to tell me that she was having a horrible day. (Right before she's about to poke me with a needle. hmmmm) Equipment malfunction, her running behind, and finding out her dog has cancer. Maybe this stress is helpful for her, because before I knew it, she had an entire vial of blood and it was painless!

2. I scheduled the anatomy U/S! July 14th it is....I was hoping for maybe a little earlier than that, but I'll be 19w 3d. Perfect! I am super excited! Let the sex poll commence! --------------------->

First big purchase

I forgot to mention our first big baby purchase! Actually, it's our first baby purchase, period. Yes, I have managed to keep myself from buying little things here and there, partially out of superstition, and partially to make it more exciting to go shopping after we find out the sex!
We bought the Graco Quattro Tour Travel System in Milano at Babies 'R Us: it was on sale for $200(marked down from $240), and we also used their 15% off coupon for a grand total of $170!

I tried out all the systems, cheap to expensive, and this seemed to meet all of my budgeting, practicality, and aesthetic needs. Too bad it doesn't serve coffee. THAT would be the true bargain.

15 week belly shot

How far along? 15 weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: 3 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight
How much does Baby weigh?: 2.5-3 ounces
Maternity clothes? Work pants, yes (but they're still a bit big). I need a little breathing room! Otherwise, no.
Stretch marks? No new ones....just some old, faded ones from years past.
Sleep: It sucks. 4 hours of good rest at best, even with a body pillow. ugh.
Best moment this week: having an appetite!
Movement: don't think so.
Food cravings: pizza and strawberry lemonade
Gender: I had girl dreams the week prior to finding out I was pregnant...I've had 2 boy dreams in 2 weeks now, so I don't know!
Labor Signs: Hope not!
Belly Button in or out? Innie
What I miss: Lemon drops. Now I just settle for lemonade while looking at the vodka bottle. =)
What I am looking forward to: feeling the baby move, and the BIG U/S! (not scheduled yet)
Milestones: No more food aversions! (for now)

Growth spurt

I have officially had a growth spurt (plus, this was taken at 4 p.m....so likely a bit of bloat is involved.) Wow!

14 week picture

Today, I'm 14 weeks, 2 days. Here's my 14-week pic from 2 days ago.

Just a slight difference from last week...BUT this was taken on Saturday morning...and I feel like I had a growth spurt that day...we'll see!

On another note, Glen's young cousin graduated from high school, their parents threw her a grad party, and there were 2 newborns there! One was 4 weeks, the other 8 weeks old. I couldn't help but take a pic of a vision that I will be seeing in about 6 months!

He's a dork, but a loveable dork. And soon-to-be-great dad.

A New Day is Dawning

I have gone a whole week without morning sickness! I'm still tired all the time (even after I sleep 9-10 hours a night), but I feel like I'm turning a corner. I feel like my belly has had a bit of a growth spurt lately...I'll take a picture tomorrow, 14th weeks! A coworker actually mentioned the fact that I was showing yesterday. So now as my appetite returns, I'm trying to be good to prevent a big baby...

Meanwhile, I want to give a shout out to Jenny....your facebook status really has me intrigued! I hope you can share good news soon. We are all rooting for you.

PSA

Eating half a can of Lay's Stax chips in one sitting does not sit well with the wee one. Especially when combined with a caramel light frappuccino....
