13 weeks, pictures included!

Today I am 13w 1d... 2 days from 2nd trimester: time is flying! The weather here has been g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s and even hot---in the mid-80s! A bit warm for late May in these parts....but I'm not complaining! Thank goodness it will be cold by the time I'm in the 3rd tri, because it must be miserable to deliver in the summer. I have not been the best blogger lately, mostly due to the fact that I have no energy. Well, no lasting energy...I can go for a good 2-3 hours, and then I crash!

To add to my sono photos, my 2nd OB appt on Wednesday was not the best, as far as timing. I had to call in sick to work that day, as I felt like crap. More than usual. Now, I'm not one to call in sick very often, and it was much needed! I mustered up the energy to shower for the appt at 2:30. I get there, and they immediately told me my dr. has been in delivery all day and most likely won't make it. Completely understandable. Babies aren't predictable. I can always reschedule.
At this point, I was just looking forward to seeing my baby again! 30 minutes later, the U/S tech retrieved me from the waiting room, made me get on the scale (ugh), and quickly shooed me to a room and had the gel ready to plop on my belly before I could even get comfortable on the table. Yes, she was behind (late). But she didn't have to rush ME. She was not too verbal, but she did tell us when she was measuring head/femur/belly, etc. My biggest complaint was that I was told this would be a 30 minute U/S with plenty of time to see many angles of the baby. I was on the table 10minutes max. I wore my big girl panties and did not pout or complain...I understand her intentions of gaining back some time w/her appointments. No harm done.

Next: bloodwork. Not my most stellar "skill", if you call sitting there and pumping your fist while a vampire tries to suck you dry a skill. I am historically known as a "roller". My veins do not stay put, nor are they very big. Most phlebotomists chuckle and say "yeah, ok" when I tell them this (of course everyone tells them this, right?). I have been poked at the elbow, wrist, back of the hand....sometimes 5-6 sticks to try to get a good draw. Once, when I was 16, I passed out as a med student drew blood from my wrist. (because it hurt, not because of the blood/needle!) So, I've seen a few needles in my day! So she probes my right elbow, which didn't hurt at all, but no luck. Left hand...no luck. Left forearm...jackpot! But only enough for the NT scan testing. I have to get it done again in 3 weeks. Hopefully, this will be gone by then:

After that, I saw a nurse midwife who was GREAT! I really enjoyed my visit with her, even though it was another scale/pee/talk about symptoms/hear the heartbeat visit. But, this was the first time I've heard the heartbeat on the doppler, so it was cool! G and I heard the heartbeat briefly during the scan earlier, but this was a bit longer. That ended one helluva long appt---2 hours to be exact, if you count all the waiting in between.

As far as belly pics go, I'm trying to be better! At least I'm taking them on time---even though they don't immediately make it to the blog. Here's 12 & 13 weeks: (I see a bit of a change, there!)

U/S photos 12w4d

Pictures only tonight....more details tomorrow!

Don't rock the boat, baby

I'm sick today, didn't go into work....I think baby must be going through a growth spurt, because I've been more hormonal, tired, hungry, and my GI tract has been acting up for the past 3 days. I had a great week last week. No morning sickness, just a bit tired. Yesterday, I was so close to puking on one of my (stinky) patients, and it took all the will power I had not to. Though, it would have been nice to get him back for not bathing weeks at a time---it may just have motivated him to at least take a quick shower!

Hopefully, I'll feel a bit better by this afternoon. I'm getting bloodwork done and having an U/S done for my NT scan! I'm really excited, mostly because I get to see my little cutie again. I'm not worried about the results until the doc gives me something to worry about. I'll post more later today!

Not motivated

to do anything lately. We've almost finished up our bathroom, except for a couple of floating shelves above the toilet, paint touch-ups, new towels, and new door hardware. I hate the old brass crap you'll see in the pictures.

Before:

After:

The paint color isn't white, but a calm beige....I want to do some pure white towels and some with a sophisticated pattern/color combo, but we'll see. I guess we missed the shower head in the new pic, but you get the idea. And that brass doorknob has got to go!

On baby news, I'm now 11w3d and awaiting my 2nd OB visit a week from tomorrow! Time is flying so fast...Here are my 10 and 11-week belly shots. Nothing but extra pudge so far. LeSigh....

Now I have to finish cleaning the guest room for our friends Toby and Laura, who are visiting us for Memorial Day weekend! I'm excited for the visit, not so excited for the cleaning...but this could potentially be the last true "guest room" stay...it will be a nursery soon!

All the work was worth it...

Our bathroom remodel is 90% completed...we just need to seal the granite countertop and install shelving above the toilet! I just had my first 30 minute soak in the jetted tub, ala candles and a nice glass of alcohol-free white cran-peach juice (I could have killed for a lemon drop!). I will make sure to post before/after photos of the bathroom soon!
I also took my 10-week belly shot but need to upload it to the computer...coming, I promise!

Madame Zaritska is w-r-o-n-g

So I got a little bored and found an online birth prediction from Madame Zaritska--very cheesy. Here's what she had to say:
"The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 13 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 16 inches long. This child will have medium brown eyes and a little patch of brown hair. "

Ahem....

#1: I will be delivering in late Nov if baby comes early and in Dec if baby is on time. Hello! Chances of it being warm then....not too great here in Oregon.
#2: A boy?! We'll just have to see. I am not a believer yet.
#3: 13 freaking pounds? Are you kidding me? It's called a c-section, people. Holy cow!
#4: only 16 inches long at birth? Isn't the "norm" at least 19-20 inches? I'm 5'10" and so is Glen...no shorties here.
#5: Medium brown eyes/hair...this is the only part that I believe is fathomable, given Glen has both. And he's pretty cute.

I am all about science. I need proof. And no internet fortune-teller will convince me otherwise. It's all for entertainment, people!

9 weeks!

I reached it on Saturday. Yesterday was a busy day full of demo-ing our hall bath--all the way down to studs (around the tub). I felt great, so I did some grouting of the slate tile in our living room (before/almost complete after):

I still need to grout the floor and we need to put the wood-burning stove back in place.

On baby news, I feel like crap today! We took the week off to do our bathroom renovation, and all I've done today is nibble on crackers and drink sprite (oh, and I took a long nap, too). I haven't been so ambitious, so the grouting can wait until tomorrow. We have our next OB appt on 5/27 to do the NT scan, so I'm looking forward to seeing my baby again and hearing the heartbeat for the first time! (Jenny, so jealous of your instant accessibility to these things :-) We're really excited to find out baby's sex (yes, we are caving and finding out!)--Glen has dreamt about baby girls, and I am getting girl vibes, too. Either would be great--a healthy babe is our MO.

I'm really looking forward to the end of the 1st trimester--I've decided that's when I'll start window shopping for cribs/strollers/carseats, etc. My nausea is not really allowing me to tolerate being on the computer for very long at this point, so I haven't really been into that yet. That's probably a good thing, as G just had to go to the ATM to pay a plumber for unexpected problems---oye.

It will be worth it: I'm so excited for my jetted tub!

Here's my 9-week pic:
